About Author

Hi, I’m Saloni Nagar, the founder and lead content creator of Bark & Meow Tales, a website dedicated to making feline nutrition easier to understand.

I’m a cat parent who researches feline nutrition and translates scientific information into clear, practical explanations. I’m not a veterinarian, and my role is to help readers understand nutrition-related topics—not to diagnose medical conditions or replace professional veterinary advice.

Why I Created Bark & Meow Tales

In 2021, I adopted three cats: Simba, Shadow, and Grace. Like many cat parents, I wanted to give them good care, but I did not fully understand the complexity of feline health and nutritional requirements.

In 2025, I lost Shadow after a series of serious illnesses. His illness and passing deeply affected me and changed how I approached learning about cat health.

I cannot know whether different information or earlier recognition would have changed the outcome. What I do know is that the experience made me more aware of how important reliable information, careful observation, and timely veterinary care can be.

I created Bark & Meow Tales to turn that experience into something constructive: a place where cat parents can find clear explanations, explore reliable information, and better understand the questions surrounding their cats’ diets.

What I Write About

Bark & Meow Tales focuses on four areas of feline nutrition:

  • Nutrition Basics: Essential nutrients, hydration, digestion, nutrient absorption, calories, weight management, and feeding behavior.
  • Cat Food & Ingredients: Food labels, ingredients, wet and dry food, raw feeding, additives, manufacturing, and food safety.
  • Special Diets & Health: Therapeutic diets, food sensitivities, supplements, life-stage nutrition, and nutrition-related safety.
  • Advanced Nutrition Science: Personalized nutrition, feeding approaches, nutrition and longevity, and the evidence behind common nutrition claims.

My aim is to help cat parents understand what the available evidence says, why it matters, and where its limitations lie.

How I Develop Content

I research feline nutrition topics using relevant scientific literature and veterinary sources, then work to explain the information in accessible language.

My editorial approach aims to:

  • Distinguish established evidence from emerging research and uncertainty.
  • Explain nutritional concepts without unnecessary jargon.
  • Avoid exaggerated health claims and unsupported promises.
  • Make the limitations of general dietary guidance clear.
  • Review and correct published information when credible new evidence or identified errors warrant changes.

I want readers to leave with a better understanding of the topic—not unnecessary fear or the impression that an online article can answer every question about their individual cat.

Veterinary Review and Editorial Standards

Animal health information requires care and accountability. Where veterinary review is undertaken, the reviewer and review status should be identified clearly, and the scope of that review should be represented accurately.

Our editorial information explains how content is developed, how medical review is handled, and how readers can raise questions or report potential errors.

My Commitment to Cat Parents

Simba and Grace remain an important part of my life, and Shadow remains part of the reason I continue learning.

His story did not make me a veterinary expert. It gave me a personal reason to take the quality of cat-care information seriously.

Through Bark & Meow Tales, I want to make feline nutrition research more understandable, help readers evaluate feeding claims thoughtfully, and encourage informed conversations with veterinary professionals.

I will continue learning, questioning, and improving the content I publish, because responsible educational information should be transparent about both what is known and what remains uncertain.

Thank you for being here.
